Imphal: The Kuki National Army-Burma dismissed claims that its fighters crossed the border to attack villages in Manipur’s Kamjong district. The Myanmar-based group stated it stays strictly within its own borders to fight the military junta. "Our mandate, objectives and operational commitments are confined exclusively to Myanmar," the outfit declared.

Arsonists recently torched homes and refugee camps across several villages. The violence ripped through Kongkan Thana, Sankalok, Choro, Namlee, and Wanglee. Attackers burned 25 homes and 11 refugee camps in Kherongruen and Huimine Thana. Losses reach several lakhs. Locals are furious. The Ramphoi Village Authority blamed the 11 Assam Rifles for standing by while the destruction unfolded only 100 metres from their post.

The KNA-B claims its enemies are spreading lies. It accused the NSCN and Meitei separatist groups of pinning the violence on them to ruin their reputation. Meanwhile, the state government is scrambling to stabilize the region. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with local leaders to push the Vibrant Villages Programme. The plan aims to build better defenses and boost the economy in frontier areas. Villagers are not waiting for plans. They want immediate military action to seal the border and stop more incursions.
