Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the representative body for Kuki tribes, ended its economic blockade on Tuesday following government promises to secure the transport of food and basic supplies. The organization issued a statement from its Lamka headquarters confirming the withdrawal, noting that the decision reflects a good-faith effort to help residents in Kangpokpi and neighboring regions.

KIM officials have demanded that authorities ensure the consistent flow of fuel, medicine, and foodgrains within the next 48 hours. The group stressed that these basic necessities are essential for survival and should remain free from political interference. As the apex body stated, "access to food, medicines and other basic necessities is a fundamental humanitarian requirement," and such items should not be obstructed under any circumstances.

While the blockade has been lifted, the organization warned that it may take further action if these commitments are not met. KIM placed the burden of responsibility on the government, asserting that any future shortages would be the fault of the authorities if they fail to uphold their promises. This move aims to alleviate the severe supply chain issues that have challenged Kuki-Zo communities in recent weeks as stakeholders work to restore order in the hill districts.
