Kuki Inpi Manipur Holds Rally Demanding Justice and Resolution in Kangpokpi

Imphal: Thousands of demonstrators marched through Kangpokpi on May 30 to demand justice for three slain Kuki-Zo church leaders and the immediate release of 14 people reportedly held hostage in Senapati district. Organised by Kuki Inpi Manipur, the peaceful rally drew community leaders, youth, women, and various civil society members who gathered at Brig. M. Thomas Ground before marching to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Speakers at the event called for a transparent investigation into the killings and urged the government to hold perpetrators accountable. Church representatives used the platform to appeal for regional harmony and a swift resolution to the ongoing instability in Manipur.

Following the march, a delegation led by Kuki Inpi Manipur met with Kangpokpi Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari. They submitted a formal memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting increased security in Kuki-Zo areas and a commitment to restoring faith in the legal system. The organisation also pushed for active political dialogue to address the long-standing grievances of the Kuki-Zo community.
