Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) slammed Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam for his recent suggestion that the government might pardon members of the Arambai Tenggol. KIM blasted the move as a disgraceful attempt to shield a violent group from the law.

Konthoujam reportedly stated that the government would seek to avoid further arrests of the group while holding those guilty of crimes to account. He indicated plans to consult with the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister to determine if these members could be pardoned for their roles in the conflict.

KIM dismissed the Arambai Tenggol as a radical terror organization responsible for systematic ethnic cleansing. The group detailed a long list of atrocities, including the 2023 gang rape and murder of two women in Imphal and the burning alive of a hearing-impaired man. KIM leaders expressed shock at the government's stance, asking, "How can any government, let alone the Home Minister, speak of 'avoiding arrests' for such perpetrators?"

The organization claims these actions represent a pattern of using rape as a weapon of war. They argue this policy proves the Kuki-Zo people need a separate administration. KIM demanded an immediate retraction of the minister's statement. They called for the full prosecution of every member involved in the violence. They will not back down.
