Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body representing Kuki tribes, has scheduled a nationwide protest rally for May 30. This demonstration follows a joint meeting held on May 26 where representatives adopted a resolution to organize a coordinated response to ongoing tensions in the region.
The protests are a reaction to the deaths of three Kuki-Zo church leaders: Rev. V. Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun, and Pastor Paogoulen. Additionally, the organization is demanding the immediate release of 14 Kuki-Zo civilians currently detained in the Senapati district.
Kuki-Zo communities across India plan to gather under a unified theme to ensure their message remains consistent. The organization has invited a broad coalition of student bodies, women groups, youth organizations, and church leaders to participate in rallies within their respective cities and districts. Officials emphasized that the demonstrations will remain peaceful while calling for accountability regarding the recent violence and detentions.
