Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex organization for Kuki tribes, has submitted a formal memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi detailing the severe crisis facing the Kuki-Zo community. The group cites a sharp rise in targeted attacks, civilian deaths, and the destruction of numerous villages as primary concerns in the ongoing state conflict.

KIM reports that 14 civilians have been killed and 11 villages destroyed in recent bouts of violence. The organization expressed deep concern over deteriorating relations between communities and a perceived lack of security, stating that the community feels abandoned by the current response. The memorandum warns that any future political or administrative solutions in Manipur will lack legitimacy if they do not address the suffering and needs of the Kuki-Zo people.

The demands submitted to the central government include an impartial judicial inquiry into a reported fake encounter at Songkong village and a full investigation into the destruction of villages. The organization is also calling for the government to review and potentially revoke the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN-IM. To restore safety, KIM requested the deployment of neutral central security forces in vulnerable regions and the provision of regular, time-bound progress reports on government investigations.

Ultimately, the group is seeking a long-term political settlement that guarantees equal constitutional protection. They emphasized that temporary security fixes are insufficient to resolve the deeper issues of discrimination and displacement. Urging the federal government to fulfill its constitutional duties, the group requested that authorities act "immediately, impartially and firmly" to restore peace and provide justice for the affected victims.
