Imphal: A Kuki civil society group blocked National Highway-37 on Monday. The move follows a bloody raid on Thingkhojang village in Kangpokpi district. Unidentified gunmen struck Sunday morning. Residents were inside their church at the time. Several people are hurt. Houses are gone. Fire destroyed them.

The Kuki CSO Working Committee slammed the 86 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force. They accuse the local CRPF unit of standing by while violence unfolded. They are starting a non-cooperation movement against those troops. The group wants the government to act now. They demand an investigation, immediate arrests, and medical aid for the victims. The committee stated: "The Kuki CSO Working Committee (KCWC), South West Sadar Hills, on Monday announced a 24-hour shutdown along National Highway-37."

Traffic on the Imphal to Silchar route has stopped. This blockade adds to the region's misery. Another blockade on National Highway-2 has dragged on for 52 days. That protest began after the killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians in May. State police claim they have set up 114 checkpoints across the hills and valleys. Security teams continue to hunt for suspects in fringe areas.
