Imphal: The Kuki History and Identity Protection Committee wants Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and all Kuki MLAs out of office. The group claims these politicians serve the community poorly by staying in the state government while pushing for a separate administration.

Ethnic conflict has ripped through Manipur since 2023. The Kuki people have faced constant violence, displacement, and death. The committee argues that legislators should quit the assembly to show solidarity with their people instead of just skipping sessions.

T. Kamkhosei Haokip, the group's information secretary, hit back at the central government. He accused the BJP of playing games. "The BJP-led Central government was pursuing a divide-and-rule policy within the Kuki community through selective engagement and prolonged talks without tangible outcomes," he said.

The committee demands more than empty promises. They want the MLAs to publicly back the move for a separate Kuki state or Union Territory. If no deal is reached before the 2027 elections, the group wants these politicians to pack their bags for good. The state remains on edge.
