Imphal: The Kuki CSO Working Committee launched a 24-hour total shutdown on National Highway-37. This follows an armed assault on Thingkhojang village in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur. Gunmen targeted a Sunday church congregation, leaving women and children hurt.

The committee condemned the strike. They called the incident a grave act of violence against civilians. The group now demands the immediate arrest of the attackers and a formal probe.

Allegations point to a major security failure. The committee claims local security teams did nothing to stop the violence even though they were positioned nearby. Consequently, the group declared a total non-cooperation policy against the 86 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force. They refuse to work with the unit until officials fix the accountability gap.

Protesters want the Central and Manipur governments to send medical aid and relief. They also expect tighter security for villagers in the surrounding area. State authorities and security agencies have not yet issued a response to the shutdown or the claims of negligence.
