Kohima: Leriechazou Panchayat officials swept through Ward 16 in Kohima on August 1. They targeted local businesses to check for valid trade licenses and hazardous inventory. The inspection followed a direct order from the KMC councilor of Ward 16. Colony youth, women organizations, and the Gaon Bura joined the Panchayat members during the operation.
Inspectors uncovered several shops running without legal permits. They also seized a cache of expired food products found on store shelves. The team disposed of the tainted goods immediately. It was a clean sweep. Petevilie Livi, the Panchayat chairman, issued a stern public warning to all local merchants.
"The Panchayat has issued strong warning against the defaulters to comply with the KMC rules and regulations," Livi stated. The message remains clear. Any shop failing to renew its license or caught selling expired merchandise again faces permanent shutdown. The Panchayat intends to cancel business permits for any repeat offenders found within the colony limits.
