KIMACS Demands Urgent Action on Manipur University of Culture Admissions

Imphal: The Kangleipak Indigenous Minority and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has condemned the prolonged delay in the undergraduate admission process at Manipur University of Culture for the 2026-27 academic session. While other major state institutions like Manipur University and Dhanamanjuri University have already moved forward with their enrollments, the cultural university has failed to issue a notification, sparking concerns of systemic neglect.

KIMACS officials warned that this administrative paralysis threatens the academic futures of many students. They noted that waiting for the university to act may cause applicants to miss deadlines at other institutions, potentially resulting in the loss of an entire academic year. The organization cautioned that the university’s reputation is suffering as prospective students look elsewhere for their studies.

The group blamed the current crisis on the lack of a permanent Registrar, which has left the university unable to handle essential academic functions. Describing the situation as a failure to uphold the state's cultural mission, the organization stated that the delay reflects a "deliberate attempt to weaken and marginalise the institution."

KIMACS has called on both the state government and university leadership to intervene immediately. They are demanding the urgent appointment of a regular Registrar to resolve the backlog and restore operational stability. Without swift corrective measures, the organization warned that the university faces long-term damage to its credibility and its ability to serve as a hub for Manipuri cultural education.
