Kerala police arrest man for beating wife to death over dowry

Guwahati: Kerala police arrested 40-year-old Rabbul Amin on June 29 for the murder of his wife. The Nagaon, Assam native allegedly killed 29-year-old Mersins Khatoon at their rented home in Ernakulam. The brutal attack occurred Monday morning near Thurappalam in the Perumbavoor police station jurisdiction.

Amin reportedly used a plywood plank to beat his wife. She died from her injuries. The violence erupted because Khatoon failed to bring two lakh rupees from her father as Amin demanded. Local residents heard the commotion and alerted law enforcement. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody immediately.

Police took Amin to the station for questioning before formally charging him. A local court remanded the man to judicial custody. Investigators are currently checking if the victim suffered past abuse, noting, "investigation is underway."
