Shillong: Itsy Bitsy launched its newest retail outlet in Shillong on Saturday. The store sits inside the Ma-I-Khia Complex at Nongthymmai. It brings over 10,000 items to the local market including canvases, crochet yarn, resin, and jewellery beads.
Founders Harish and Rashmi Closepet flew in from Bengaluru to host the two-day opening. The pair moved back from Australia to start the brand in 2007. They aim to boost employment for rural women through these handicrafts. The store opening featured a prayer from Pastor Nathan and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mac, Banri, and The Shillong Times Editor Patricia Mukhim spoke at the event. Mukhim praised the move, saying the shop brings vital "creative offerings to the city."
Visitors can join workshops on Ocean Resin Art, Decoupage Coaster Art, and Lippan Art. The shop stocks everything from paints and brushes to MDF and silicone moulds. This expansion marks another push to grow the chain across India. It gives residents a spot to learn and experiment with new skills.
