Guwahati: A rare Bengal Slow Loris is recovering today. Residents found the injured animal roadside near the JS Academy in Bakalia on June 24. It was lying near the local police station.

Environmentalist Chandni Saha led the rescue. She worked with the Assam Police to secure the nocturnal primate before moving it to the Forest Department for urgent care. Officials confirmed the operation moved quickly after they received a tip from Dibyanka Prajapti.

The Bengal Slow Loris is an endangered species. It faces constant threats from the illegal wildlife trade and habitat destruction across Northeast India and surrounding nations. Conservationists want the public to stay alert. They emphasize that reporting wounded animals saves lives. Officials stated, "Every rescue matters. Protect wildlife, preserve biodiversity, and report injured animals to the authorities."
