Guwahati: Two iconic Assamese children’s magazines, Mouchak and Notun Aabiskar, have been added to the digital archives of the University of California. Assam Minister Bimal Borah announced the news on May 25, calling the move a vital step in protecting the state's cultural and literary history.

These publications served as a cornerstone of childhood for many generations in Assam. They were instrumental in introducing young readers to a variety of topics, including science, literature, and storytelling. By digitizing these works, the project ensures that the stories and language associated with these magazines remain accessible to researchers, students, and readers worldwide.

The initiative aims to safeguard Assamese literary traditions for future generations. By placing these magazines into a global digital archive, the material is now permanently preserved, allowing the unique imagination and cultural wonder found within the pages to be shared with a global audience.
