Home Ministry Launches New Portals to Combat Cybercrime

Kohima: The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has launched two specialized portals to enhance the national response to digital fraud. The new Grievance Redressal Mechanism and Money Restoration Module aim to provide practical relief to citizens who fall victim to cybercrime.

DCP Bajrang Bansode explained that the Grievance Redressal Mechanism will assist in unfreezing bank accounts that were restricted incorrectly. Meanwhile, the Money Restoration Module is designed to streamline the process of returning funds lost to fraudulent activities. These platforms are intended to foster better communication between law enforcement, banking institutions, and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Official guidance suggests that individuals facing cyber fraud should act quickly by calling the national helpline at 1930 or submitting a formal report through the existing national portal. Emphasizing the significance of these tools, Bansode stated, "These portals will establish direct coordination among the police, banks and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal."
