Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has blamed Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi for his electoral downfall, citing his vocal opposition to state infrastructure projects. During a session of the Assam Assembly, Sarma argued that citizens across the state overwhelmingly support the development of new flyovers, tunnels, and roads.

Sarma pointed specifically to the Jorhat flyover project, suggesting that Gogoi's criticism of the initiative alienated voters and resulted in an embarrassing defeat within his own constituency. According to the Chief Minister, opposing such construction projects highlights an outdated mindset that the public is no longer willing to accept.

The Chief Minister also addressed skepticism regarding the proposed tunnel linking Golaghat and Gohpur. He stated that these developments are essential for solving long-standing transportation challenges for thousands of residents. Sarma maintained that these projects signal a shift away from a history of underdevelopment and ignorance, asserting that the state is actively leaving its past behind as it modernizes its infrastructure.
