Guwahati: Health officials in Assam have increased disease monitoring and preventive efforts in Rangia following a recent surge in Japanese Encephalitis cases. The mosquito-borne illness has already claimed two lives, and five additional patients are currently undergoing medical treatment at a local healthcare facility.

In response to the outbreak, the state health department has deployed specialized medical teams to the affected region. These teams are tasked with identifying infection hotspots and implementing strategies to prevent further transmission. The department is also working closely with local health workers to ensure that suspected cases receive rapid diagnosis and care.

Beyond clinical intervention, the government has launched public awareness campaigns to help residents protect themselves. Authorities are stressing the necessity of mosquito control, which includes eliminating stagnant water sources and improving local sanitation. Regarding the ongoing response, officials noted: "Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and cooperate with health teams conducting surveillance and awareness activities, as efforts continue to contain the spread of the disease in Rangia and adjoining areas."
