Guwahati: Basistha police in Guwahati arrested an alleged drug peddler during a targeted raid in the Kerakuchi area. The operation, led by the East Guwahati Police District, resulted in the capture of 31-year-old resident Atik Sahadat Mazumdar.
Authorities recovered 6 kilograms of ganja and a mobile phone connected to the suspected illicit trade during the search. Officials stated that the operation forms part of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking in Guwahati, which has witnessed a series of successful anti-narcotics actions in recent months.
The accused remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward. Investigators are now working to identify the origin of the seized narcotics and track down other members of the distribution network.
