Guwahati: Guwahati police arrested three men on May 31 for allegedly plotting a series of robberies across the city. Officers from the Gorchuk Police Station acted on intelligence to raid the Belwali area of Boragaon, intercepting the suspects before they could carry out their plans.

The arrested individuals are Bandhura Basumatary, Janak Basumatary, and Mano Basumatary. They are residents of the Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, and Dhemaji districts. During the operation, police seized a pistol, ammunition, magazines, a dagger, and a machete. Investigators also discovered documents that outlined specific plans for robberies at various city locations.

Authorities credited the raid with preventing potential threats to residents and local businesses. The suspects remain in custody while police conduct interrogations to determine if others are involved and to trace the origin of the recovered weapons. A broader investigation into the group's criminal network is currently underway as legal proceedings move forward.
