Guwahati Police Arrest Boyfriend After Woman Found Dead

Guwahati: Guwahati police arrested 28-year-old Akash Prasad after his girlfriend, Sushmita Basumatary, was found dead in her Hatigaon rented apartment on June 10. The discovery of the woman's body prompted an immediate investigation by local authorities following suspicions raised by her family members, who believe she was murdered.

Reports indicate that Basumatary was last seen with Prasad in her room until late Wednesday evening. Family members reported the incident, leading the Hatigaon Police Station to register a case and take Prasad into custody for questioning.

Authorities are now working to determine the cause of death. Officials confirmed that further details will emerge after the completion of a post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.
