Guwahati: Guwahati authorities have introduced strict security measures for the NEET-UG examination scheduled for June 21. The city police issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to establish restricted zones within 100 metres of all 15 local examination venues.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Nirupam Hazarika signed the directive to protect the integrity of the medical entrance test. Access to these areas is limited to examinees with valid admit cards, exam staff, police officers, and authorized government officials. The move is designed to prevent disruptions and stop the use of digital platforms for potential exam malpractice.
The affected locations include major institutions such as Cotton University, Dispur College, Handique Girls' College, and various Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses across the city. Officials stated the order will be effective only on the day of the exam. The directive is intended to maintain order around the venues while minimising the risk of controversies related to alleged use of unfair means.
Authorities have issued a stern warning regarding the enforcement of these rules. Any individual found violating the order will face legal consequences, as the police confirmed that "any violation of the prohibitory order will invite legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023."
