Guwahati: The Court of the District Judge in Guwahati handed Garima Garg a succession certificate for her late husband Zubeen Garg's financial assets. The singer died in Singapore on September 19, 2025. His wife now holds the rights to specific bank accounts and mutual fund investments. The court confirmed her status as the legal heir after Zubeen's father and sister submitted affidavits confirming they had no objections to the order.
The ruling covers two Standard Chartered Bank accounts and an ICICI Bank account linked to Eye Creations. However, the judge denied claims regarding Zubeen Garg Music LLP and the Green Rhinos joint venture. These entities remain bound by separate partnership agreements and existing business laws. Any benefits from those firms must be settled through those specific contracts.
Shadows loom over the singer's business manager, Siddhartha Sharma. Legal filings allege Sharma diverted massive amounts of money meant for the performer. Lawyers claim that while Zubeen's accounts hold a meager balance, "Sharma's accounts allegedly contain funds running into crores of rupees." Accusations include the misappropriation of payments from various Bihu committees, including a reported diversion of Rs 32 lakh from last year's performance fees.
Sharma denies the claims and has asked the Supreme Court to move his trial out of Assam. The petition awaits a decision from the apex court. Further hearings are scheduled to determine the fate of the remaining assets.
