Guwahati: Bharalumukh police took Guwahati businessman Gautam Baruah into custody following a viral stunt on the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu. Baruah turned the public bridge into a private party zone for his wife's birthday. He rolled out a red carpet and set up decorations directly on the road.

Footage of the event hit social media and sparked immediate backlash. People were furious about the blatant misuse of public infrastructure. The celebration reportedly stopped traffic and jammed the flyover for other motorists. Police are now looking into the claim that Baruah intentionally halted vehicles to clear space for the festivities.

Authorities registered a case under sections 125, 270, and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officers seized two cars, AS 01 GH 0003 and AS 01 GK 0772, during the raid. The investigation remains active as officials continue questioning Baruah. One official stated, "Further investigation is underway as police continue questioning the detained individual."
