Guwahati: Guwahati Airport beefed up its emergency response fleet. Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport added a high-tech High Reach Extendable Turret Crash Fire Tender and specialized water rescue boats to its arsenal. The new Rosenbauer-manufactured truck features an extendable turret built to reach high points on aircraft during a blaze. This tech cuts down response times. Firefighters can now hit hot spots faster than before.
The airport also deployed water rescue boats to cover the bodies of water surrounding the airfield. These additions allow the rescue crews to handle disasters on land, in the air, and in the water. Airport leadership claims this setup puts the facility in a select group of regional hubs with such broad rescue reach. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting unit operates under the motto "We Serve to Save" to keep the facility in line with Directorate General of Civil Aviation rules.
The team keeps its edge through frequent drills and constant training. These upgrades secure the airport as a major hub for Northeast India. Staff remain on call for any fire or rescue job at a moment's notice.
