Gogoi Demands More Relief for Sivasagar Flood Victims

Guwahati: Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi confirmed on Friday, August 28, that 30,000 out of 37,000 flood-hit families in his constituency received Rs 15,000 in one-time government aid. Thousands are still waiting. Gogoi plans to meet Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that evening to address the outstanding compensation gaps.

Gogoi has spent weeks demanding better support for residents struggling in the aftermath of the disaster. He issued a firm warning regarding the government's next moves. "If the affected people did not receive sufficient relief and assistance, an agitation would be launched in the coming days," Gogoi stated. He maintains that the current level of state intervention falls short of what these families need to recover.
