Guwahati: Gaurav Gogoi, president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, blasted the state government on Saturday, August 29. He claims officials botched the distribution of essential flood relief and mismanaged financial aid. The accusations surfaced during a media briefing in Morigaon district.

Gogoi alleges a widespread scam involving the procurement and supply of gear. He claims the government-funded tarpaulins handed to flood victims were of poor quality and useless. Furthermore, he says officials repackaged cooking oil before delivering it to families. Relief efforts are failing. The state must answer for these supplies.

The Congress leader also targeted the disbursement of Rs 15,000 in one-time financial aid. He asserts that beneficiary lists are riddled with fake Aadhaar numbers, proving that the verification process is broken. During his address, Gogoi took shots at state minister Pijush Hazarika. He referenced an allegedly expensive watch and a vehicle valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.

Gogoi reserved his toughest words for Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Debashish Sharma. He claims Sharma uses his position to boost the BJP, citing political interference in local administration. "I demand Sharma's immediate suspension," Gogoi said, calling for urgent accountability. He insists the district office is no longer neutral.
