Guwahati: Gauhati University rolled out its Integrated Teacher Education Programme on Friday. The initiative aims to sharpen multidisciplinary and skill-based teacher training in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. Officials gathered in Guwahati to kick off the curriculum.
Vice Chancellor Nani Gopal Mahanta addressed the crowd during the launch. He noted that the role of a teacher is constantly shifting alongside modern teaching methods and student needs. "Teachers must nurture responsibility, values, ethics, humanity and creative thinking while preparing future generations," Mahanta said. He urged educators to keep their skills and knowledge current to keep pace with an evolving school system.
Purabi Baishya, the Head of the Department of Education, delivered the welcome address. Jayanta Kumar Sharma, an official from the Assam government and member of the National Council for Teacher Education, highlighted how the program makes teacher preparation more contemporary. He believes the training will prove responsive to today's educational demands.
Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Secretary of the University Classes, and Dulumoni Goswami, the Chairperson of the ITEP, joined faculty members, students, and parents at the event. The program focuses on holistic preparation, professional skill development, and modern pedagogical perspectives to strengthen regional education.
