Kohima: The Urban Public Health Centre in Seikhazou launched a three-day polyclinic on Tuesday, providing residents with free consultations and treatment from specialist doctors. Funded through the 15th Finance Commission 2021-22, the initiative aims to bring specialized healthcare directly into the community.
Medical Officer Dr. Bilva Yalie said the center hopes to reach patients who struggle to travel to the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima. By offering services at UPHC, the facility provides an alternative to the higher patient volume seen at the larger hospital. Dr. Yalie stated, "The polyclinic would enable more people to avail specialist healthcare conveniently and without financial burden."
Opening day services were led by senior specialist and diabetologist Dr. S. Neiphrezo and gynaecologist Dr. Neiketouzo Kulnu, both from NHAK. The schedule continues on June 17 with experts in ENT, dermatology, and paediatrics, followed by a medicine specialist on June 18. Dr. Yalie emphasized the need for public awareness regarding these regular monthly services to ensure residents utilize the available resources.
