Itanagar: Five residents of Assam’s Lakhimpur district lost their lives on Sunday when their vehicle plunged into a 300-foot deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh. The accident occurred along National Highway 13 near Tatatara village in the East Kameng district.

The victims, all from Bhorolua village in the Nowboicha area, were traveling in a Bolero to Seppa for business. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle veered off the hilly road after the driver lost control. Four of the men died at the scene, while the fifth occupant succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Bulbul Ali, Noor Hussain, Abul Hussain, Amzad Ali, and Saidul Islam. Local sources pointed to rain-induced slippery road conditions as a potential factor in the crash, though authorities have not yet confirmed a cause. Officials stated that the "exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is currently underway."

Rescue teams, local police, and nearby residents launched a search operation immediately following the incident. All five bodies were recovered from the gorge and moved for formal procedures.
