Imphal: The Federal Government of Nagaland issued a firm warning on May 19 regarding the rise of violent criminal activities in the southern parts of the territory and surrounding areas. The government accused armed groups, which it described as Kuki terrorists, of behavior that has gone beyond the limits of human nature. Officials stated that the government will work alongside right thinking people and nations to address these threats.
A statement from the Ministry of Rali Wali emphasized that Nagaland remains the ancestral land of the Naga people. Under the Yehzabo, or the Constitution of Nagaland, citizenship is reserved for those of Naga blood. However, the government clarified that non-Naga communities and members of the Kuki Tribal Union who live peacefully and follow the law are welcomed as brothers and sisters.
The FGN stated that it does not recognize any governing groups outside of the Naga National Council and itself. Officials pointed to illegal immigrants and refugees as sources of unrest that disturb daily life and threaten indigenous populations. To combat these issues, the government called on all Nagas to unite as a nation to protect their land and people.
