Family alleges fatal medical negligence at Silchar hospital

Guwahati: Rupam Baruah died at Nayabil Hospital in Borjalenga, Silchar, after his family claims staff delayed oxygen support. The man arrived struggling to breathe. His family says the medical team ignored his deteriorating condition.

They insist an oxygen cylinder sat unused in the ambulance during the crisis. "Negligence on the part of the government-run healthcare facility resulted in the death of the family's sole breadwinner," one relative said. Baruah was the only person bringing home a paycheck.

His death leaves his wife and children without a source of income. Protesters gathered outside the hospital today. They want a formal inquiry and immediate government help for the survivors. The family also asked the Chief Minister to give the widow a job.

The hospital has stayed quiet. Officials from the Health Department have yet to issue a statement regarding the accusations.
