Guwahati: A high-level Team Europe delegation will travel to Assam on June 8 and 9 to deepen economic cooperation between the European Union and India's northeastern region. Led by EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan Hervé Delphin, the group includes ambassadors from member states and prominent business leaders who aim to identify new trade opportunities.

The visit will focus on sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable urban infrastructure, healthcare, semiconductors, and electronics manufacturing. The team will also explore partnerships in tea and agri-food processing, as well as the flavors, fragrances, and AYUSH sectors. Ambassador Delphin noted the region's strong potential for growth and collaboration. He stated, "Assam and the Northeast possess significant economic potential, highlighting the region's resources, skilled workforce and rapid economic growth."

During the two-day visit, the ambassadors plan to meet with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Meanwhile, the Federation of European Business in India will facilitate discussions between European companies and local state officials. A central part of the itinerary is the Blue Valleys workshop on June 9, which focuses on building sustainable industrial value chains. The state government will also launch its first Blue Valley Cluster, an initiative designed to link Assam's industrial ecosystem directly with European markets.

The delegation will conclude the visit with a tour of the Tata Electronics semiconductor facility. This stop highlights the growing prominence of Assam within India's high-tech manufacturing sector and serves as a blueprint for future foreign investment.
