Imphal: Former Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh pushed for a new approach to global stability today. He spoke at the International Conference on Recentering Peace in a Changing Global World held at Kamakhya Pemton College. Singh argued that peace means more than just a lack of war. It requires dialogue and respect.
The world is shifting. Power structures change. Modern conflicts now bleed into technology and trade. Singh pointed to Manipur as a vital point in this changing world. The state acts as a historic bridge between South Asia and Southeast Asia. It sits at the heart of India's Act East Policy. Yet, the region faces real strain. Porous borders and migration create tension. These issues shape the local experience.
"Peace in Manipur cannot be viewed in isolation. It is closely linked to regional geopolitics, border management and inclusive development," Singh said. He wants stakeholders to stop looking at identity as a barrier. He suggested using history as a bridge instead of a wall.
Academic institutions must lead this charge. Singh challenged students to link local problems with global truths. He believes the youth will carry these lessons into the future. Nations that respect diversity survive longer. He expects this conference to offer more than just talk. He wants actual policy steps to secure a balanced world order.
