Kohima: The Residency Colony Youth Organisation (RCYO) in Dimapur has issued a strong condemnation following reports of sexual assault and physical abuse against a minor girl. The group has identified O. Watimeren Jamir and several accomplices as the alleged perpetrators of the crime.
The organisation raised significant alarm regarding the arrest of Akangkoba Ao, who serves as the Gaon Bura of Residency Colony, as the third suspect in the case. In an official statement, the group declared that such crimes must not be tolerated in society.
RCYO is calling for a transparent investigation and an expedited trial process. They have urged authorities to prosecute the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and other applicable laws. "The organisation called for a transparent and impartial investigation, expedited trial, and prosecution under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant laws," the statement read.
Standing in solidarity with the survivor and her family, the organisation appealed to the public to unite against child abuse and sexual violence. The group emphasized that ensuring accountability is essential for securing justice in this case.
