Kohima: Dimapur Traffic Police started installing Reflective Pavement Marker road studs today to stop speeding. They picked 18 accident-prone junctions across Dimapur and Chümoukedima for the safety upgrade. Work covers 11 spots in Dimapur and seven in Chümoukedima.

Crews are placing these markers at key points based on traffic flow and road conditions. The studs aim to force drivers to slow down at junctions and long stretches. According to a traffic official, the studs are being placed strategically, rather than at fixed intervals. Officials plan to add rumble strips to steep or high-speed sections as well.

The project falls under the Commissioner of Police and local traffic units. Work continues from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Traffic personnel are currently regulating vehicle flow as the team shifts from Dimapur toward Chümoukedima over the next two weeks.

This effort joins a larger safety plan involving solar streetlights and CCTV cameras. Officials already picked sites for the new lights along the Dimapur-Chümoukedima corridor. Management remains split between Traffic Zone 1 and Zone 2 to keep traffic moving safely while crews work.
