Kohima: Katho P. Awomi turned himself in to Dimapur Police on Saturday following the June 30 vandalism at Prysm Lounge. Police took him into custody as the investigation into the incident rolls on.
The move comes after lounge owner Tito Yepthomi filed a police report on July 2. Confusion surrounds the current status of the suspect. While some sources claim he was released on bail after signing a bond, others maintain he remains in police custody. Officials have yet to provide a firm confirmation on the matter. It remains unclear if police have tracked down other suspects identified in surveillance footage.
The Naga Students’ Federation previously removed Awomi from his post as finance secretary, stating he is "exempted" from all responsibilities pending the results of the inquiry.
Separately, the Tsutoho Village Kukami Authority hit lounge owner Tito Yepthomi with a five-year banishment starting July 4. Village leaders allege Yepthomi repeatedly ignored warnings to follow customary practices. They claim his business frequently hosted illegal activities and violated the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, causing unrest and damaging the reputation of the village.
