Kohima: Dimapur officials gathered village leaders and trainers at the Deputy Commissioner’s hall on June 29 to prepare for the 2027 Census. The meeting aimed to cut through rumors and build public trust. Charge Officer Wiridin told the crowd that enumerators are ready. He stated, "Enumerators and supervisors had undergone adequate training and were well prepared to carry out the exercise."
The first phase, known as the House Listing Operation, runs from July 1 to 30. Teams will record every structure, occupied or not. Staff will use a mobile app featuring 34 specific questions. Officials warn that census data remains strictly confidential and any leaks carry legal penalties.
EAC Khiuzan Kaurinta divided Dimapur into three charge areas: the Municipal Council, East Dimapur Town Council, and Dimapur Sadar. She asked village authorities to help identify boundaries and ensure no homes are missed. Wiridin also asked Gaon Buras to recruit local youth volunteers to assist with the field work. The teams need full public cooperation to map the region correctly. Accurate data builds future development plans.
