Dimapur Council Targets Overpricing and Expired Goods

Kohima: The East Dimapur Town Council warned shopkeepers to stop gouging customers. Businesses must quit charging over the Maximum Retail Price or peddling expired goods. Violators face immediate legal action. Fines are coming.

The council’s Rate Control and Quality Maintenance wing issued the order this week. They demanded every wholesaler, retailer, and shop owner follow the law. Regular inspections will hit the streets soon to catch those breaking the rules.

Officials stated, "any individual or business establishment found charging above the MRP or selling expired items would face strict legal action, including the imposition of penalties and fines."

The council expects cooperation from all traders. They want to protect consumer rights and ensure fair prices for everyone in Dimapur. Follow the rules or pay the price.
