Dimapur Community Groups Demand Justice Following Minor's Sexual Assault

Kohima: Community organizations in Dimapur are demanding a transparent and rapid investigation after the alleged sexual assault and physical abuse of a minor. The Residency Colony Youth Organisation, Residency Colony Council, and Residency Colony Mother's Union have all issued statements calling for the prosecution of those responsible under the full extent of the law.

Public concern has centered on the arrest of Akangkokba Ao, the Gaon Bura of Residency Colony, who has been named as the third accused in the case. The GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) acted quickly to revoke Ao's membership and has petitioned the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to immediately cancel his appointment as a local official. The union expressed its shock over the allegations, noting it was beyond imagination that a guardian and protector of the citizens can become the perpetrator of such heinous crime.

Local leadership groups have expressed deep regret that a permanent resident of the colony is involved in the incident. These organizations are calling for the legal process to be fast-tracked to ensure accountability. While seeking stern punishment for those found guilty, the GB Union also advised citizens to remain calm and allow the legal process to unfold without disruption. The involved community bodies continue to provide their solidarity to the survivor and her family during this investigation.
