Kohima: Eighty-four women church leaders from across Dimapur gathered at Hotel Acacia for the Naari Leads Swachhata Faith Based One Day Action Summit. Organized by the Dimapur Municipal Council, the event aimed to position women as primary agents of change for environmental health, waste segregation, and plastic reduction within their local congregations and neighborhoods.

Retired commissioner and secretary L.H. Thangi Mannen addressed the group on the topic of Naari Shakti in Swachhata. During her speech, she emphasized the vital importance of female leadership in environmental preservation, noting the impact women have in leading community action for a cleaner and greener society.

The summit included a technical session led by waste management consultant Adrian M. Mahung. He instructed participants on the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, household composting techniques, and effective strategies for reducing plastic waste. Attendees received practical tools to assist their work, including segregation bins and a Swachhata Leader Handbook.

These leaders are now equipped to conduct their own awareness programs through church fellowships and community outreach initiatives. By providing these resources, the Dimapur Municipal Council hopes to see the participants implement and replicate these environmental practices throughout the city.
