Guwahati: Dima Hasao district leaders hit the road Thursday to tackle gridlock on the Haflong-Silchar route. Heavy trucks are choking the corridor. Deputy Commissioner Gayatri Devidas Hailinge led the inspection alongside Senior Superintendent of Police Ripunjay Kakoti and National Highways Authority of India officials.
The team combed the Jatinga-Silchar stretch to pin down why traffic remains at a standstill. They watched the flow of vehicles and scouted spots where the jams hit hardest. Officials want to clear the mess fast. They discussed practical ways to keep the road moving for cars and trucks alike.
Hailinge promised immediate action to fix the commute for local residents. The administration plans to tighten traffic control and boost safety across the entire corridor. "The district administration would take necessary steps to reduce inconvenience to commuters and strengthen traffic management on the corridor," Hailinge said. Teams are now working to restore order to the busy transit link.
