Guwahati: Dhubri police arrested Indrajit Sinha, a Sanskrit teacher at Bholanath College, for allegedly filming a woman while she showered. The incident occurred around 3 pm on August 17 at the student’s rented room near the campus. Sinha, a resident of Malda, West Bengal, worked at the college under a government contract.
The victim caught Sinha recording her through a bathroom ventilator. She raised an alarm. Her roommates and landlord chased down the suspect. They held him until police arrived. The victim’s brother filed a formal complaint at the town police outpost. The case is filed as Dhubri PS Case No. 0321/2026.
Officers charged Sinha under sections 329(3), 77, and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They also invoked sections 66(E) and 67 of the Information Technology Act. Officials produced him in a Dhubri court on Tuesday. The investigation into his mobile phone and the recording remains active. Police stated, "The investigation is underway, including examination of the alleged recording, the circumstances surrounding the accused’s entry into the premises and the contents of the electronic device allegedly used in the incident."
