Conrad Sangma Pushes to Save Indigenous Heritage

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma wants more work done to protect indigenous cultures, identities, and traditions. He spoke up this past Sunday. The occasion was the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. He made the plea for communities across the Northeast and the entire nation.

Sangma argued that diversity acts as the fundamental strength of India. He specifically pointed to the deep legacy of Northeast communities as a key piece of the national identity. "The day is an opportunity to honour the unique stories and heritage of indigenous groups," Sangma stated.

He warned that current generations must pass these traditions down. His message finished with a demand for a collective push to keep these ways of life vibrant for years to come.
