Conrad Sangma Honors WCOPA Medalist Kitkupar Nongsiej

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma met with performer Kitkupar Nongsiej in Shillong on Monday. The session followed Nongsiej’s performance at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts in Las Vegas, USA. Nongsiej hauled home three gold medals, two bronze medals, and finished in the Top 5 of the competition.

Sangma praised the artist’s hard work on the global stage. "It was a pleasure meeting Kitkupar Nongsiej to congratulate him in person on his remarkable achievement of finishing among the Top 5 finalists at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Las Vegas, USA," Sangma said in a post on X. The state government backed his journey.

A public crowd cheered for Nongsiej at Iew Kynshi on Saturday. The Kynshi Pyllun organized the event. Hundreds of market-goers and locals attended. Local MLA Shakliar Warjri and MDC Powell Sohkhlet attended alongside family and community leaders. Warjri credited the win to relentless work. Sohkhlet pushed local parents to support children in music, sports, and dance while urging the youth to stay disciplined.
