Shillong: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum heaped praise on Kitkupar Nongsiej today. The young performer stunned the competition at the World Championships of Performing Arts 2026 in Las Vegas. He returned home with three gold medals and two bronze medals. Nongsiej also snagged the First Place Scholarship Award at the international event.
Nongrum called the win a proud moment for both Meghalaya and India. Nongsiej stood as the country’s lone finalist. His performance pushed the Northeast into the global spotlight. The MLA credited the win to years of hard work. Nongrum said, "The achievement reflects Nongsiej’s exceptional talent and years of dedication."
The legislator expects this victory to spark a trend. He believes the success will push local youth to chase excellence in their own careers. Nongsiej is now an inspiration for the entire region.
