Congress Challenges Government Claims of Infrastructure Progress in Nagaland

Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee has challenged recent statements from Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, who touted unprecedented infrastructure growth in Nagaland under the current government. The opposition party argues that official statistics and budgetary figures do not reflect the lived experience of citizens who face ongoing challenges with basic public services.

A primary point of contention involves the state rail network. The committee noted that while the central government highlights broad investment announcements, key projects remain unfinished. Specifically, they pointed to the Dimapur Railway Station, which has failed to see the promised modernization, leaving the state's main transport hub behind other regional facilities.

Road connectivity remains another critical failure according to the committee. Local leaders highlighted that routes from Dimapur to Niuland and various other districts are riddled with potholes and drainage issues. They noted that many new construction projects deteriorate almost immediately, prompting concerns about the quality of materials and the management of public funds.

Demanding greater accountability from the BJP government, the committee urged officials to prioritize actual results over self congratulatory rhetoric. "The people of Nagaland deserve answers. If infrastructure development has indeed progressed as claimed, why do citizens continue to struggle with incomplete railway projects, neglected railway infrastructure and deplorable road conditions?" the party asked in an official statement.

To address these grievances, the committee is calling for a transparent report on all pending railway projects. They are also pressing for the modernization of Dimapur Railway Station and immediate repairs to the state's deteriorating road network.
