PRESS RELEASE

The Naga people seek accountability from the CoBRA Unit of the CRPF and other security forces involved in the military operation conducted in the Leilon Vaiphei area on 21st June 2026 against Pucca Nomadic, Narco-Terrorist, Refugee Kuki, KNF-P insurgency group.

It has been reported that there was an exchange of gunfire and the use of explosives during the operation. It is further informed that nearly 100 insurgency armed cadres belonging to KNF-P, UKNA, and KRA were surrounded by the security forces. The groups who are accused of involvement in the abduction of 18 innocent Naga civilians and the subsequent brutal butchering of six innocent Naga civilians among them.

However, despite the large-scale operation, no arrests have been reported, nor has the operation produced any visible or meaningful outcome. The eventual withdrawal of the security forces has raised serious concerns and prompted questions regarding the intent of the operation.

It was also reported that a considerable number of security personnel moved towards the Pucca Nomadic, Narco-Terrorist, Refugee Kuki, KNF-P Ebenezer Camp on 23rd June 2026. Yet, no arrests were made. This has given rise to serious questions and suspicion.

The Naga people earnestly appeal to all Indian security forces to ensure transparency, accountability, and impartial enforcement of the law.

We also strongly remind the security forces that the mortal remains of the six innocent Naga civilians who were abducted and later brutally butchered are still lying in the JNIMS mortuary, awaiting justice.

A charter of demands has already been submitted to the Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, and the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Y. Khemchand Singh.

Before delivering justice, the lathi-charge, arrest, and detention of peaceful and democratic agitation volunteers in Namdilong–Kanglatongbi at the wee hour of 24th June, 2026 cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The Naga people reiterate our demand for justice, accountability, and concrete action against those responsible for these heinous crimes.

Furthermore, if the security forces continue to resort to such high-handed actions against peaceful protesters in the future, the Naga people will compelled to intensify our democratic agitation, by affecting upto the extend of interrupting the movement of military convoys and military supplies.

Issued by Naga People's Organisation | Senapati

The press release underscores a deepening trust deficit between the Naga civilian population and security forces operating in Manipur, with the organisation explicitly warning of escalated democratic agitation, including disruption of military logistics, should high-handed tactics against protesters persist. The mention of unclaimed bodies at JNIMS mortuary and the absence of arrests despite two separate operations will likely intensify scrutiny on both the Union Home Ministry and the Manipur state government, even as the situation on the ground remains tense.
