Chümoukedima Officials Push New Waste Management Rules

Kohima: Chümoukedima officials gathered at the Deputy Commissioner's office on June 30 to overhaul local trash disposal. The workshop targeted urban leaders and business owners to fix the town's waste problem. They want cleaner streets. Additional Deputy Commissioner T Lemlila Sangtam led the session, focusing on the Solid Waste Management Rules of 2026.

Experts from the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, the Public Health Engineering Department, and the Department of Urban Development walked attendees through the latest legal requirements. The training stressed that effective disposal relies on strict segregation and better collection methods. The event operated under the theme "Freedom from Garbage" to motivate participants.

Councilors from the Chümoukedima Town Council and local business leaders sat in on the discussions. Organizers urged these figures to set a standard for the community. The goal remains simple: turn the town into a model for sustainable growth by following the new statutory framework.
