Itanagar: An Inter-Ministerial Central Team toured Keyi Panyor on July 8 to gauge the devastation from last month's cloudburst. The disaster hit the district on June 24. It killed three people and left two missing. The team inspected landslide zones and wrecked roads between Itanagar and the Posa NEEPCO Colony.
Home Affairs Joint Secretary Nishtha Tiwari led the delegation. They traveled alongside Disaster Management Secretary Dani Salu to see the ruin in Possa village. The floods smashed residential houses, government offices, and local infrastructure.
The group met with Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti and Superintendent of Police Angad Mehta to discuss recovery needs. They reviewed the wreckage to the agriculture sector and public buildings. The deputy commissioner detailed the district's requirements for immediate relief and long-term reconstruction.
The findings move to the Ministry of Home Affairs. This report determines the final financial help from the government. Officials noted that the assessment will form the basis of its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs, "which will decide the quantum of additional central financial assistance to be provided to Arunachal Pradesh for post-disaster reconstruction and recovery efforts."
